Introduction
Maison des Fleurs
Appartement de Roses et de Vignes

The House
Maison des Fleurs was built in the 1700's to house a vineyard worker and his family - this is a typical Landocienne terraced cottage. Land was used for cultivation, so houses for the workers were tiny, this is no exception - 55 square metres in total - but it once housed a family of six. As this is such an old beamed property, some of the headspace is limited on the top floor.
The house was derelict when purchased and has been lovingly renovated to emphasise original features such as ancient floor tiles, beams & niches. The original floor tiles were re-laid, beams restored and the walls re-built using traditional methods and materials. It is furnished with a mixture of charming French antiques and practical modern furniture and also has wi fi and, on the top floor, air conditioning.
Maison des Fleurs has a lovely double bedroom and a single bedroom which, although it has an adult sized bed, is really very small so is really only suitable for a child, we prefer the house to have a maximum of 2 adults and a child (5 - 12 yrs) at a time unless by prior agreement. We welcome family dogs and, of course, children but the structure of the cottage means it is not suitable for children under the age of 5 years.
Maison des Fleurs
Ground Floor
The entire Ground Floor is dedicated to cooking/dining. The kitchen area comprises a full size electric oven, gas hob, microwave, expelair, fridge, sink, cupboards and shelving. Excellent quality cooking utensils are provided plus ample crockery and cutlery. The dining area is furnished with a dining table and chairs, a settee and a dresser full of travel guides for the area, cookery books and novels. All rooms have electric radiators for the cooler months.
As is traditional in ancient French properties, a separate toilet and wash basin are on the ground floor.
First Floor
The lounge is on the First Floor and is decorated with lovely Brocante finds. French windows lead to a sunny little balcony, just perfect for your morning croissants and coffee, or your evening glass of wine.
The Lounge has a settee and two comfortable chairs, a table & a wall mounted DVD player. A large library of DVD's is provided and the wi fi is situated in this room but it is possible to use the wi fi throughout the house.
The Lounge and the separate shower room (with wash basin) on this floor have electric radiators for the cooler weeks. The top floor is air conditioned and this reaches down into the whole house after about one hour.
Second Floor
The comfortable Double Bedroom is furnished with a very pleasing mix of Brocante finds and French antiques. The Single Bedroom is very quaint and has an adult size bed but it is really only suitable for a child as the room is very small. Situated in this bedroom are board games and DVD's suitable for children. Both bedrooms have electric heaters for the cooler weeks and air conditioning. The single bed is adult sized and is always made up with linen as it can be used at no extra charge. As previously stated, the toilet is on the ground floor. The air conditioning unit is in the double bedroom and also ensures the single bedroom is kept cool, after about one hour the whole house feels the benefit of air conditioning.

This is a typical artisan's cottage, the stairs are shallow but sheer and hand rails are fixed where appropriate but the cottage is not suitable for children under 5 years. Please note that the toilet is on the ground floor.
Dogs are very welcome but if you would like to bring your pet please contact us in the first instance.
Parking is very easy in the village; the village Place always has spaces, it's one minutes walk from the house, the 'main' road, within site of the house also has parking places available. We have never had a problem with any vehicle left in the village. You can drive up the road to the house and unload but not leave your car there long term as the road is very narrow.
We operate a No Smoking policy in our gite.
Thezan des Corbieres is committed to re-cycling. Full details are given in the information booklet in the cottage.
If you have any special requirements please let us know and we will endeavour to help.
